It was during the 1980s when the rate of divorce was as high as 40% in the United States but has been declining ever since. As per National Survey of Family Growth, the probability of the first marriage lasting at least a decade was 68% for women and 70% for men during the years 2006 to 2010. It was estimated that this probability in 20 years would come down to 52% for women and 56% for men.
Given these stats, the future looks better when it comes to the love life of Americans. However, circumstances might change at any instance and may result in a bitter divorce so one must embrace the situation and shouldn’t let a setback make him turn away from life and the happiness which is brought about by love.
During the divorce proceedings and even after them, a person may be filled with a lot of doubts pertaining to their decision. There is always an uncertainty in their mind that keeps bothering many people and it is “Should I have given it another try, I might have changed the situation.” All one needs to do is to listen to their heart before paying attention to what others are saying or what the lawyer has in their mind. If something feels right to your heart, go for it and if it doesn’t, give some time to yourself to ponder over it.
A divorce may cause a person to be left emotionally devastated and unable to recover from depression, as his future dreams, joy, and trust have been compromised. After losing someone you have loved so much, there are high chances that the person may no longer feel confident about finding a partner ever again. Some people have the tendency to make the past mistakes yet again and such individuals should seek help from friends or even professionals who will help them in avoiding ill-conceived second marriages.
Life has different chapters and for some people, closing down this particular one doesn’t come easy. While divorce may trigger new possibilities of growth and development in someone’s life and personality, it may also bring about stagnation. If there are any unresolved feelings of anger or guilt, it would be hard for people to move forward without getting a proper closure. They need to understand that the world is a messy place and often times, you need to avoid trouble which isn’t worth your time.
