Where To Find The Secret To Happiness

Feature image: pexels.com

“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”– this is one of my favorite quotes from Harry Potter, the famous book series by J. K. Rowling. Happiness is a rare entity nowadays, we are so busy trying to be like people whose pictures we like on Instagram that we forget the pictures of our own lives. We find more hindrances to our own path to happiness more than they actually are, and as a result we fail at finding happiness. It’s time we need to find the key or rather, the secret to happiness. This article talks about how you can get inspired and feel happy again.

1. Daila Lama’s Secret to Happiness

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion”- Dalai Lama

Love, happiness, kindness- all of these have one thing in common. They are all positive energies. It is so easy to hate someone, loving someone despite their shortcomings is a real challenge. The secret to happiness is no secret at all. Spread laughter where you go, be kind whenever you can and send those positive energies out into the universe. Give people the benefit of the doubt, say a kind word to an old person, help a blind across the road, encourage youngsters in their creative ideas. While doing so, you feel a warmth in yourself, it feels good. It brings out your happy hormones as you embrace this secret to happiness .

2. Swami Vivekananda’s Secret to Happiness

“Be the servant while leading. Be unselfish”- Swami Vivekananda

In this quote Vivekananda is asking us to be more sympathetic. Self care, self prioritizing oneself is very important, and there is a fine line between self importance and thinking only about oneself when venturing on a task. That is why we shouldn’t be so much into ourselves. It is toxic. Also we might end up finding too many flaws that refuse to make us happy. Overall, it should be kept in moderation. The secret to happiness is our goal, and this is one of them. We can be our biggest fans, but we shouldn’t forget to be critical of ourselves when needed.

3. Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Secret to Happiness

“Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and in the thrill of creative effort”- Franklin D. Roosevelt

He asks us to be determined, we can find a goal for ourselves and commit to it.  Something that matters to us and is of prime importance. We should seek imaginative and creative ways to reach this goal in question.  We will be closer to that goal everyday and nothing makes us happier than that. So, this secret to happiness gives us determination and strength to keep moving forward.

4. Brad Pitt’s Secret to Happiness

“Think happiness is overrated. Satisfied, at peace-loving these would be more realistic goals” – Brad Pitt

Pitt is being real and honest here.

That the real secret to happiness or even internal satisfaction is only when we learn to be content with whatever we have or own. Envy and greed are qualities that would make us miserable and irritable. We would be anything but happy. If we learn to appreciate the smaller things in our life, how they affect us positively, then maybe we would be on a path to happiness and success. We would learn to appreciate the bigger picture of our life. Our positive attitude towards life will help us in the end.

There are many people in this world who find it very hard to be happy or even stay happy. They are forever in search of the secret to happiness. However hustling harder everyday, making a goal, working hard towards it, being kind to everyone and spreading love is how we can try and be generous and feel happy. The positive energy comes back to us, it makes us feel better and lifts us up. People dealing with depression, anxiety and other mental health problems, hardly feel any of that anymore. We can try to help them out, say a kind word or two instead of doing nothing. By one person at a time we can make this world a better, warmer and happier place to live in.
