Confessions of a Mean Mom

Lots have been written about mommy moments and the love that oozes out in instances when you least expect them. From the moment your babies pop out of you, till they grow up and have their own kids, they make you feel proud, loved, and astounded etc. It’s a bumpy ride, nobody can argue with that, yet you wouldn’t want change a thing – at least some wouldn’t.

Nobody talks about behind the scene moments, when moms learn the ropes, act abnormally cruel, and have no idea what they’re doing. This is because some moms learn to accept the natural phenomenon and learn it early on to go with the flow. For others, the journey of motherhood is strewn with pitfalls, ruffled features, and they struggle to keep up with little ones. It’s as if motherhood is an attack against their nature, and they’re fighting against themselves. It may look comical and mean to others but the emotional upheaval that goes with motherhood is real, and affects us all at unprecedented level and in different ways. And by different ways I really mean unnatural ways.
Here are some instances that moms around the world may not want to quote, but they do feel them at least once in their lifetime. But this does not make them a mean mom in anyway, it’s just that motherhood going against their nature, and they’re trying to cope with it.

Let’s first mourn the fact that you’ll never be single again, or do anything singly

Sometimes your old self comes out, and you forget (again) your kids will always be dangerously be close to you.

You discover scary things can happen to your kids

When you tumble

… or when they fall

Things will always be out of control

Like the time you try to teach them how to behave but lose it yourself.

Or when you snoop like a criminal to check them out

You discover they already know too much

You want to scream and kick

And get back at them

But remember, the best way to deal with it is just go with the flow and enjoy it
